Rick Shorter began his musical career composing, performing music and producing records for Columbia, MGM, Verve and Decca Records etc. He went on to become the musical coordinator of the Broadway musical, "Hair."
Life has many challenges-mentally, physically and spiritually.
The songs presented here, "9/11 Memorial Song" (Should'a been home by now) and "In Spite Of It All" is Rick's and daughter, Hope's sincere effort to bring healing to hearts torn by the pain of loss due to the attack on America, September 11, 2001. To our heroes - We salute you, and to those who were lost - We will never forget them.
Rick has been privileged to have meet with many of the relatives and friends of those who were taken from us on 9/11. He also deems it a rewarding experience to be able to share this music with them at various memorial events at NY's Ground Zero, Washington, DC and the Pentagon in Va. None will ever be forgotten.
Even those who may not have suffered a personal loss that day will share in the loss and the hope and courage of those who, and in heart felt agreement say, "They should'a been home by now."

9/11 Memorial Song
(Should’a Been Home By Now)
Pardon me mister, but do you recall
The man in this picture, have you seen him at all?
He kissed us good-bye the other day
Then he left for his job down near Old Broadway.
He was one of those heroes sir who helped folk out the door.
But the place where they were standing-well it just isn't there anymore.
There are a hundred million tears at least I’d say
Flowing from eyes that cry an ocean of dismay.
But don’t lose hope there is a plan.
He’s got the whole world in His hand.
But he should’a been home by now – He should’a been home by now.
Pardon me Doctor but do you recall
That’s my son in this picture, have you seen him at all?
I can see that you're busy. I'll not take up your time.
But my boy he is missing, and he's on my mind.
But he has’nt come home that never happened before.
And the place where he was working, well it just is’nt there anymore
Repeat Chorus:
Pardon me Soilder but do you recall
The girl in that photo with all of those on the wall?
She left home with the children to go shopping down town.
The tall buildings thrill them, they like walking around.
But they have not come home yet, from that trip to the store.
And the place where they where shopping-well it just isn't there anymore.
